The concept of a "Brain Lounge" was invented in 2009. Nordic Brain was formed in 2010, and the team has since then been establishing eleven Brain Lounges (link to the "Hjernelounge" website), in Copenhagen, Denmark. 

A Brain Lounge is a new and highly cost-effective way of providing both maintenance and training of the cognitive health and mental well-being for our senior citizens. The ten first Brain Lounges will be completed in March 2012. The project is a private-public collaboration between Nordic Brain and the City of Copenhagen department of Social Services running from 2010 - 2012.

The services offered by the Brain Lounge concept are in three distinct categories:

1. Setting up, installing, and maintaining Brain Lounges.
2. Coaching staff to use IT and Brain Training as a tool for health.
3. Creating digital network of health service staff for mutual inspiration.
